Polyaluminum Chloride (PAC) Popular Science Time

November 07, 2024

Time for science popularization! To learn about polyaluminum chloride (PAC).

In the industrial and environmental fields there is a super practical baby - polyaluminum chloride (PAC), also known as coagulants. Polyaluminum chloride is an efficient, safe and economical water treatment chemical supplies, its magic is that it can effectively remove suspended solids, colloidal particles and other impurities in the water, so as to achieve the purpose of purification. Due to its outstanding characteristics and wide range of adaptation, the dosage is reduced by more than 30% and the cost is saved by more than 40%, and it has become an excellent water purification agent recognized at home and abroad.

In industry, polyaluminum chloride is widely used in the wastewater treatment of papermaking, printing and dyeing, petrochemical, metallurgy and other industries, to help these industries achieve wastewater discharge standards, protect our water resources.

In the field of environmental protection, polyaluminum chloride is shining. It can be used for urban sewage treatment, industrial wastewater treatment and groundwater treatment, etc., to protect our environment.

Our company Shandong Better Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. as a set of processing and sales of environmental pollution prevention equipment, environmental protection and energy-saving electrical appliances, environmental protection equipment development, environmental protection technology consulting, environmental engineering design, construction is equal to the integration of high-tech enterprises, but also let polyaluminum chloride shine. It is widely used in dissolved air float machine, lamellar clarifier, stacked sludge dehydrator, water quality purifier, air float filter ,etc.

So, what are the characteristics of polyaluminum chloride (PAC)?

High efficiency coagulant: PAC, as an inorganic, high molecular coagulant, can quickly form large particles of suspended matter, colloidal particles and other impurities in sewage through charge neutralization and adsorption bridging mechanisms, thereby accelerating the precipitation and separation of these particles.

Decolorization and turbidity removal: For wastewater with high chroma, PAC can effectively reduce chroma and turbidity. By absorbing and removing suspended particles, pigments and organic matter from the water, it significantly improves the water quality and makes it clear and transparent.

Organic matter removal: In the sewage treatment process, PAC can not only remove suspended matter and colloidal substances, but also remove some organic pollutants in the water, such as fats, proteins and humus, through adsorption and co-precipitation mechanisms.

Heavy metal removal: PAC also has a significant removal effect on heavy metal ions (such as lead, mercury, chromium, etc.) in water. These heavy metal ions can react with hydroxyl or chloride ions in PAC to form an insoluble metal salt precipitate, which can be effectively removed.

Sludge performance improvement: In the sewage treatment process, the use of PAC can significantly improve the settling performance and dewatering performance of sludge, reduce the output and volume of sludge, and reduce the complexity and cost of sludge treatment.

Wide applicability: PAC has good adaptability to the pH value, temperature, turbidity and other water quality conditions of raw water, and can play an excellent coagulation effect in a wide range.

High safety: PAC, as a non-toxic or low-toxic water treatment agent, is safe and harmless to the human body and the environment, and is safe and reliable during use.

PAC in the use of storage precautions:

1. The pH value of water has a great impact on the use of inorganic flocculant, and the pH value is related to the type of flocculant, dosage and coagulation precipitation effect. Therefore, when the pH value is between 6.5 and 7.5, the coagulation effect is better.

2. Water temperature affects the hydrolysis rate of flocculant and the formation rate and structure of alum flowers. When the water temperature is low, the hydrolysis rate is slow and incomplete. However, it should be noted that when using organic polymer flocculants, the water temperature can not be too high, high temperature is easy to make organic polymer flocculants aging or even decomposition into insoluble substances, thereby reducing the coagulation effect.

3. When using a variety of flocculants, it is necessary to determine the best dosing sequence through testing. In general, when inorganic flocculants are combined with organic flocculants, inorganic flocculants should be added first, and then organic flocculants. When the size of impurity particles is more than 50μm, organic flocculant adsorption bridge is often added first, and then inorganic flocculant compression double electric layer is added to destabilize the colloid.

4. In operation, the water purification process of polyaluminum chloride is generally divided into three stages. The three stages are coagulation stage, flocculation stage and sedimentation stage. The condensation phase requires the flow to produce intense turbulence. Then, polyaluminum chloride enters the flocculation stage, which requires appropriate turbulence and sufficient residence time (10 ~ 15min). In the later stage, a large number of alum flowers can be observed to gather and sink slowly, forming a clear surface layer. When the flocculant is in the settling stage, it is the settling process of the flocculant in the settling tank, which requires slow water flow. In order to improve the efficiency, inclined tube or plate settler is generally used.

5. Polyaluminum chloride must be stored in a dry, moisture-proof, heat away place (<80℃ do not damage the packaging, the product can be stored for a long time). Polyaluminum chloride products must be dissolved before use, and corrosion resistant materials should be used for dissolving equipment and dosing facilities. The effective storage period of polyaluminum chloride liquid products is half a year, the effective storage period of solid products is two years, and the solid products can still be used after moisture.

So, if you are still troubled by the problem of precipitation, try polyaluminum chloride (PAC). If you are still worried about the problem of water treatment, you may wish to try to choose our company, I believe that we will bring you a surprise.
